Teaching

Joanna has been teaching music at Carolina Friends School in Durham, NC since 2008. She has published some teaching content on her YouTube channel, as well as curriculum resources at Teachers Pay Teachers.

With a CFS PACE grant, in 2019-20 Joanna completed the Mindfulness Teacher Certification program through Mindful Schools.

Though her schedule doesn’t allow time for many private lessons these days, Joanna still takes on an occasional motivated intermediate/advanced flute student (please contact her for details). In the past, she has taught private flute lessons to students of all levels and ages, from retirees picking up the flute for the first time to young artists pursuing a career in music. She has taught on the adjunct faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and as a graduate teaching assistant at Northwestern University and the University of Southern California. She has also taught beginning through intermediate piano in private lessons and groups, and the Music Together early childhood music program.
