Conducting and Music Direction

Joanna has been music director for youth and community theatre companies in California and North Carolina. She co-founded the new Stone Stoup Theatre Company of Chapel Hill/Durham with Melissa Craib Dombrowski in 2021, and is also the Music Director and Conductor for the Durham Savoyards, a light opera company that performs annual shows at the Carolina Theatre in Durham, NC, and smaller concerts around the NC Triangle. Highlights of Jo's recent music direction include SSTC's first show, Something Rotten!, in October of 2021; a social-media-inspired virtual production of Gilbert and Sullivan's Patience in April 2021, for which she also was audio engineer, and the Savoyards' March 2022 performance of Pirates of Penzance at the Carolina Theater in Durham. See below for the first episode of Patience, read this feature article in the INDY WEEK about Patience, or check out this feature on Something Rotten.
